Dramatically, this chapter symbolizes the true feelings that Gatsby held for Daisy. His love for wealth WAS his love for Daisy. As i mentioned in an earlier chapter, he had to struggle for wealth but it came too easy for Daisy so he idolized her for that.
Gatsby took the blame and ultimately his life for Daisy's security, proving his love for her once again. Nick was enlightened on the fact that he longed for her because of wealth and emotionally connected with Gatsby's final thoughts.
